Bertin Technologies offers its customers full turnkey solutions.
Some companies have a lot applications, wheels are insufficient and aircushion can often be a better alternative. When customers have a special application, Bertin Technologies is able to realize specifics systems such as:
- Sustentation kit
- Roll tranporter
- Platform / Transpellat
- Turntable
- And other custom made products
Compressed air installation
Depending on the application of the air cushions, several types of compressed air sources can be used.
These are:
- The main air supply in the factory (air in the factory) where the cushions are used
- A compressor with or without an air pressure tank
- A pressure tank
- A blower
If the air film equipment is in short operation cycle, it may be cheaper to use a smaller compressor, filling up a tank between each use of the air cushions.
If the quantity of air required is known, the supply can be estimated. The compressed air can usually be supplied by the factory air system. Check if the required air quantity can be supplied without disturbing other air consumers.
If the factory air system is not sufficient, an additional or separate compressor, a pressure tank or both will be required.
In general, a control box is required to regulate air pressure in the air cushions because each type of air cushion has its own air consumption.
Floor reception
Floor quality is very important for using an air cushion handling system correctly.
The heavier the load, the more floor allowance should be fulfilled. The floor must be airtight and levelled along the trajectory followed by the air cushion system. Joints should be filled, and their width should not exceed 5mm. The floor surface must be adequate. It can be made of a smooth concrete painted layer to cover grains.
It can also be made of a:
- floor with good joints ;
- smooth concrete with iron powder ;
- smooth cement ;
- smooth cement with an epoxy layer.
The floor can be temporarily improved with a sliding surface (steel sheet, linoleum, etc.). As regards existing floors, local repairs can be carried out. There are 3 allowances which have to be considered for the system to work correctly:
Floor surface
The Ra for the floor should be between 6.3 and 12.5m.
Planimetry
Δh measured under a ruler L long must be under the following values.
Horizontality
Without any upholding device (guide wheel, pneumatic drive, electric drive, etc.), to ensure that the load will not move on an air cushion. The slope should not be under 0.05% in any direction.
